Yes, we had a MEMBERSHIP meeting last night and only a handful were present. So WE hope there will be a better turnout next Month on April 11 as this will be the nomination meeting for the new Officers and executive for the next 2 years. And it is important for the future of the Branch that ALL members participate in this process and nominate your BEST person for a position who can help the Branch flourish and remain strong. So come out and assume the responsibility which comes with LEGION MEMBERSHIP. If you would like to stand for one of the positions please contact the nomination Committee members Mary Ann Pearson and Nick Veldt and we will gladly put your name on the ballot.
Do NOT forget...ask not what the Legion can do for YOU but what YOU can do for the LEGION and the community.
If you are not yet a Legion Member please consider joining this fine organization and serve YOUR community in a different way and also remembering those who gave us the freedom to be citizens of a good country. There will be some interesting NEW ways for new members to become better Legionnaires though the Leadership and planning education process to help you. And membership has also some interesting benefits.
Now to the days at hand and the next Legion Fish Fry will be on March 29 and we like to see you there. The date for the Legion Golf Tournement will be on June 8th.
The Legion Ladies Auxiliary will once again have their Sports Spaghetti supper on March 22 from 4.30 pm till 7.00 pm at the Legion Hall with Meatballs and Garlic Bread. Still for the LOW price of $10.00 for adults and $5.00 For Children 4-8 and ceasar salad will be available for only $1.00 a bowl.
Talking about ladies, the Lady darters had another good night last Wednesday and the results were: Team 1 took 4 games, 2-4, 3-6, 4-7, 5-3 and team 6 took 6 games. High ton was Roberta Day with 108 and High finish was Evelyn Stone with 82. Way to go gals!!
Now we like to thank a couple of Wawa citizens who made a donation in the memory of our Jack Myers who is missed by ALL who knew him. And a thank you to Mark MacWhinney for installing the parts in our kitchen dishwasher so it is working good again and he donated his labour. And we also thank him for the fine advertising job he did at the Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre during the Wawa Ice Fishing Derby and get people to the food being prepared by Legion Volunteers.
Our President will be off to Blind River to attend the Zone Meeting and we hope he will bring back some good and new ideas to help the Branch.
A group of farmers were unhappy with the Mayor and council decisions of their town and started a protest action and did the following: They released 4 pigs into the Town Hall but before they let them loose they painted numbersd on the sides of them: 1,2,3, and 5.
So city employees spend the rest of the day looking for number 4.
To all our Comrades sick at home, in the hospital and nursing homes you are in our thoughts and prayers and we wish you well.
