Dear Brenda,
With barely more than two months left before the impending closure of the Hornepayne Town Centre, residents are in a state of confusion and/or emptiness, not knowing whether they missed something or if information is being withheld from them. This has been the case for almost a month now, since we were told that the Construction Company from Sault Ste. Marie had changed its mind about buying the Town Centre, but that another prospective Buyer was waiting in line to step up to the plate. We were also told that said prospective Buyer wanted complete anonymity until a decision was taken.
The latest rumour at the present is that the deadline was last Friday, July 23rd, when the prospective Buyer for Plan "B" was to go ahead with the Environmental Survey in preparation for severing the building. It is hoped that, in a worse case scenario, there will be enough time left for the Plan "B" Prospective Buyers to get through all the red tape before September 30th. Some of us are praying for a just and fair solution to the Town's dilemma, and I would urge everyone who reads this to do the same.At least, pray that a solution may be found for our Seniors and Low-Rental Tenants before September 30th.
The best case scenario however, would be for the prospective Plan"A" Buyer to finalize the deal, however, we would still have to petition the Ontario Government to renew its Public Services Grants so that we can keep the Municipal Swimming Pool, the Gymnasium, the Porcupine Health Unit, the Municipal Library, and the Hornepayne Economic Development Office.
We need prayers for either scenario. We also have to get the attention of our Provincial Government. Keep sending Letters whether by way of Email, or Royal Mail.
Armand Le Fort
Hornepayne, Ontario
