Lori Johnson, Director of Community Services and Tourism helps Susan Switzer, Early Literacy Coordinator, Best Start Hub put books on the new Take a Book, Leave Book bookshelf in the community centre lobby.
You can now Take a Book and Leave a Book at the Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre. The Municipality of Wawa is supporting our local children’s book exchange program by having a bookshelf in lobby of the community centre.
The Municipality understands the importance of developing literacy skills at an early age and supports the recycling of used books. The books will also provide a great source for reading materials for out of town families who are attending tournaments and events.
Families, when you have lessons, practices or games at the centre, remember to bring a children’s book you have read and exchange it for one you haven’t or just enjoy the books while you are there.
Other bookshelves are located at the Best Start Hub, 66 Broadway Avenue and the Wawa Public Library and the Wawa Dental Centre.
Donations of gently used children’s books are still needed and would be greatly appreciated. Books can be dropped of at the Best Start Hub, 66 Broadway Avenue during regular operating hours.
