Forty students have been recognized as outstanding summer employees in Ontario Parks with $500 educational bursaries.

The Ontario Parks Partners Bursary Awards recognize excellence and leadership in student employees and promotes post-secondary education. Winners were nominated by park visitors as well as the students' peers and supervisors.

A partnership between Ontario Parks, corporate sponsors and park supporters, the bursary program is now in its 10th year. In addition to helping fund their education, the program promotes our natural and cultural heritage, and careers in the public service.

QUICK FACTS
More than 2,000 summer students work in Ontario Parks each summer.
Recipients work for Ontario Parks, the Ontario Ranger program, "friends of the park" organizations or other park volunteer groups.
Bursary recipients are selected by a committee of Ontario Parks staff, corporate sponsors and "friends of the park" groups. The committee considers each candidate's customer service, initiative, leadership, willingness to volunteer in other programs, and overall dedication.
Ontarians and tourists from around the world make about 10 million visits to provincial parks each year.
