Two Florida men have been fined $1,200 for possessing too many walleye.
Tamas Feher and Csaba Nyerges, both of Pompano Beach, Florida, were convicted in their absence for having more walleye than permitted by a conservation licence. They were each fined $600.
Court heard that on June 27, 2009, Feher and Nyerges were checked by Ontario conservation officers at the Sault Ste. Marie International Border. The officers were conducting a fish and wildlife road check in conjunction with the Canadian Border Service Agency. The two men had been fishing in the Nipigon area and were in possession of 14 walleye. They had conservation licences which entitled them to only four fish in total.
Justice of the Peace Paula Nichols heard the case in the Ontario court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on November 12, 2009.
