Wawa-news has confirmed that CAO Chris Wray is seeking nomination to become candidate for the Liberal Party, Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing Riding.
This is the first step. Candidates must file nomination papers, be approved to be a candidate, then win the nomination by signing up the most local party members. Once nominated, he will then face federal election to become our local representative in the House of Commons. If successful, Chris could become the second person from Wawa to serve as a Member of Parliament. Tony Martin, MP Sault Ste. Marie grew up in Hawk Junction/Wawa.
The 41st Canadian federal election is tentatively scheduled for October 15, 2012, under the Canada Elections Act, unless the 40th Canadian Parliament is dissolved earlier by the Governor General. Chris Wray has been the CAO of Wawa since 1999.
